Atea Sweden is acquiring IT company Barret, which will expand its operations in Östersund and give the company a total of 30 staff working with IT infrastructure. Atea is expanding in a region in which increasing numbers of companies and organisations are demanding qualified services in the field of cloud solutions and other areas supporting digitisation and business benefit. “We are pleased to be able to extend our operations in Östersund together with Barret and the talented people within the company. With a strong local presence and specialists in all fields, we can work together with our customers to help develop the region,” says Anders Nordberg, site manager at Atea in Östersund.

“Atea has secured its position as an important part of the local IT ecosystem and improves The Power Regions’s attractivity to data center investors. We are looking forward to cooperation with Atea on innovative solutions for our customers and expansion of Atea’s data center operations in The Power Region”, says Magnus Lindgren, project manager of The Power Region.

IT company Barret has been active in Östersund for almost 20 years and offers services in fields which include functional solutions and data centres. The company’s net sales over the past business year amounted to SEK 34 million, and the company has 25 staff who will now be offered the opportunity to work with and develop at Atea.

“Atea has a long-term strategy with a strong local presence, and at the same time it has the skills of a major company when it comes to fields such as function services, security and identity management, and together we will be able to provide even more skilled advice to our customers. The fact that we are now merging is also good for our staff, who will have plenty of opportunities for development,” says Ronnie Heidenborn, CEO of Barret.

Atea has more than 30 local offices and offers all IT infrastructure services. Atea Sweden employs more than 2000 people, half of whom are consultants. The company’s net sales passed the SEK 10 billion mark over the past business year. Atea Sweden is part of a group listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

“IT company Barret is a well-managed company, and together we will increase our collective delivery capacity. We are currently seeing huge demand from our customers, and with Barret’s talented staff and the collective expertise of our companies, we will have a fantastic opportunity to grow in the region,” says Anders Nordberg
